Odíhg Māiē̼ùq (Mā /j̼ʊq/ [lawn] [market; mall]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Doz̄ugima Kingdom, Drièfèkē Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Odíhg Māiē̼ùq is derived from the Tauric language, as Odíhg Māiē̼ùq was founded by Thiarth Carew, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq has a yearly average temperature of 28°C (82°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 25°C (77°F). Overview

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq was founded durring the early 13th century in spring of the year 1209, by Thiarth Carew. The establishment of Odíhg Māiē̼ùq suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Odíhg Māiē̼ùq which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Odíhg Māiē̼ùq is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq is buildings are arranged within a network of broad carved bedrock streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. The town's peasent-grade have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Your first impression of Odíhg Māiē̼ùq proves to be right on the money. This town is where the rebels chose to settle. Fashion trends are quite simply the opposite of what’s popular in the other nearby communities. THis trend extends everywhere. Things that should be black are white, what would normally be square is organically curved, and what is typically unthinkable for polite society is more than welcome in this public square. Up to the logical limits, of course. There’s no flaying someone alive to eat their skin going on, but the women are dressed a little immodestly, the men are a little more emotional, and the food is all overly complex and terrible.

They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Odíhg Māiē̼ùq's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is short in Odíhg Māiē̼ùq.

The Raven Swarm near Odíhg Māiē̼ùq are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves bloodletting to channel Abjuration energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.

History

Odíhg Māiē̼ùq is still bloodied by a recent violent conflict. A crushing bandit raid, a lost siege, getting caught at the periphery of a major battle, or some other calamity has inflicted severe damage on the place. Some communities may suffer a longer-term version of this, their youths lost in a grinding, endless battle against some perpetual threat.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Odíhg Māiē̼ùq was attacked by savage tribes living nearby Odíhg Māiē̼ùq. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Odíhg Māiē̼ùq lost 166 people, 127 livestock, and 33 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 152, when members of Odíhg Māiē̼ùq's militia enacted an operation to bring aid to another fighting force. The operation was complicated by major logistical problems. The conflict ended with needing to break through the enemy's lines, which ended in defeat for Odíhg Māiē̼ùq's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Odíhg Māiē̼ùq's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
